Youth Alliance for Community Change, a youth-led community-based association with sponsorship from the National Youth Authority has organized a satellite installation training for youths at Yaru in the Wa East District.
Speaking with the Acting Chief Director of the association, Mr Aminu Ibrahim, he said the essence of the training is to equip the youth with valuable skills that can earn them a living.
He said the youth when trained would be engaged in productive ventures rather than idling quoting that, the devil finds work for the idle hands.
He further hinted that the association together with its partners will continue to organize more of such programs for the growth, uplift and empowerment of the youth.
He observed that the Wa East District is one of the districts that records higher cases of teenage pregnancies in the region, the phenomenon he described as unacceptable.
He therefore said the association will charter paths towards girls’ rights promotion and empowerment, through skills training and mentorship development.
While moving a vote of thanks, the Communications Director of the association, Miss Mashruhatu Alhassan called on girls who participated in the training to be more ready to learn new skills.
She urged them to make the most out of the program and some others that are yet to come their way.
