Residents of Wuokoraa, a farming community in the Kunchileyiri Electoral Area are calling on the government to address a pressing issue, the lack of proper accommodation for teachers in their community. Residents have been selflessly sacrificing their homes to ensure that educators have a place to stay, highlighting the urgency of the situation.

Madam Gyayilie Sonsori, a local resident, expressed her concerns about the dire conditions facing the community’s schools. "There are no teacher's quarters available, and the current classrooms are in deplorable condition," she stated during an interview with Info Radio. Her plea is reflective of the dedication that residents have for their children's education, as they try to create an environment conducive to learning despite the challenges.

In her heartfelt appeal, Madam Sonsori implored both the government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to provide adequate housing for teachers in Wuokoraa. "We need support to ensure that our children have access to quality education," she said.

The community's plight does not end with the accommodation issue. Naa Darimani Polibu, the Chief of Wuokora, lamented the absence of electricity in the area, further exacerbating the difficulties faced by residents. He emphasized the need for infrastructure improvements, which are critical for both the well-being of the community and the effective functioning of educational facilities.

As residents continue to sacrifice their homes for the greater good of their children's education, the urgent call for government intervention resonates louder than ever. Wuokoraa stands as a testament to the resilience of communities prioritizing education, but they cannot do it alone.

With the stakes high and the future of their children at risk, Wuokoraa residents hope that their voices will be heard and that substantial action will follow.
