Women of Jirapa-Konkuo in the Jirapa Municipality of the Upper West Region have appealed to Micro Finance and Small Loans Center, MASLOC, financial institutions and philanthropists, for financial support to boost their businesses.
Speaking to Info Radio, during its thought provoking and discerning morning show, “ZIENYAANYE UPPER WEST”, Madam Perpetual Nenla, a leader of the women group who is also an Acting Head of Human Resource at the Jirapa Nursing Training College, noted that most of the women are traders but without the required financial footing to do meaningful trading.
Madam Perpetual revealed that they had been given Corn mills by one Non-Governmental Organization some time ago towards boosting their businesses which she did confessed was helpful to them.
She however, bemoaned that the electricity power to the center had been disconnected due to inability of the women to bear the high electricity bill that came with the operation of the machines.
The Assembly Member for the Konkuo Elecoral Area, Hon Evans Anglieraangwine, confirms the sufferings of the women in the Konkuo community.
According to Hon Evans, the women are willing and ready to work, but without the necessary financial strength to go beyond the usual menial status.
He thus added his voice to the call of the women for financial assistance to keep them in business.
