Why are we not benefitting from LEAP program? PWDs in Paala demand answers

Persons with Disability (PWDs) in Paala, a marginalized community in the Sigri Electoral area of the Wa West District, are speaking out about their exclusion from the Livelihood Empowerment against Poverty Program (LEAP), a government initiative designed to support vulnerable individuals and families.

According to the PWDs, not a single person in their community is a beneficiary of the LEAP program, leading them to feel neglected by government interventions.

Mr. Tendaw Kantuona, a member of the community, expressed his dissatisfaction with their exclusion from the LEAP program in an interview with Info Radio, stating, "We feel marginalized and forgotten by the government. We have not received any support despite our efforts to register our names with the authorities."

His words echoed the sentiments of many, resonating with a sense of frustration and longing for recognition.

Another community member shared their experience, saying, "We have repeatedly traveled to Guse or Maasi to register our names, but we have not seen any tangible action or support from the government."

At the heart of their plight is a single poignant question: Why are we not included? For years, the residents of Paala have endured the burden of neglect, feeling the sting of being left out of government initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable populations.

These firsthand accounts shed light on the challenges faced by PWDs in accessing support programs, prompting questions about the inclusivity and effectiveness of government interventions for marginalized communities like Paala.
