Traders in the Wa Central Market have expressed worry about the frequent increase in prices of food and related products by wholesalers.
According to the traders, they make little to no profit due to the constant increment of prices of the food items by wholesalers.
Some retailers who spoke to Info Radio mentioned that the prices at which food and related products are sold to them by the wholesalers make it difficult for them to earn profit from the sale of the products.
Madam Alimata Famena, a trader in grains and cereals, mentioned that they have to remove all the chaff from the commodities before they can sell to their customers.
This, according to her, reduces the quantity of the commodities.
She added that exorbitant transportation fares takes away the little profit they make.
Madam Famena further mentioned that farmers are usually reluctant to sell their products to new wholesalers.
She said the old and known wholesalers mostly determine who the farmers should sell their produce to.
