The Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih says Government through the Ministry of Health has procured COVID-19 testing equipment to handle suspected COVID-19 cases in the Upper West Region.
“Meanwhile, I am happy to announce that the region now has testing equipment located at the Wa Municipal Hospital to diagnose COVID-19 cases,” he has said.
Delivering his end-of-year message to the people of the region on December 31, 2020 on Info Radio, Dr. Salih noted that, his office is in talks with the Ghana Health Service through the Regional Director of Health to prepare a place at the Wa Municipal Hospital to serve as a testing centre for all suspected covid-19 cases in the Upper West Region.
He said this will ease stress and save cost, as samples of suspected conditions need not send to Tamale or Kumasi to get tested.
The Minister revealed that, the Upper West Region has recorded three new cases out of the eight hundred and forty-two fresh cases recorded nationwide.
He therefore advised citizens to continue adherence to the safety protocols laid by health professionals and the government. “Nonetheless, the disease has not yet gone and we must not lose guard to keep safe. Let’s continue to stick to all the recommended safety protocols as the world witness the second wave of the pandemic,” the Minister urged.
Dr Hafiz Bin Salih, on behalf of Central Government, thanked the people of the upper west region, for their cooperation and support to the government for the past four years.
He appealed to the people of the Upper West Region to come together and pray for the benefits of the next NPP government and the ensuing 2021.
