The Paramount Chief of Tumu Traditional Area, Kuoro Richard Babine Kanton IV, has expressed worry about the seemly neglect of the Sissala enclave in the national development agenda.
He cited the neglection of the Sissala Area in the EU access roads in the Upper West Region as one of the instances of the neglect.
Kuoro kanton raised the concern when the Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia called on him and his chiefs and elders during his visit to the Sissala East Municipality.
The Vice President is in the region to inspect ongoing projects, cut sod for new projects and interact with chiefs and peoples of districts the President could not visit during his of the region about a month ago.
The Paramount Chief however acknowledged ongoing road projects in the Sissala East Municipality but appealed for more intervention, especially on the Wa-Tumu-Bolgatanga road.
Kuoro Kanton also appealed to the government to improve upon the security situation in the Municipality as it shares borders with Burkina Faso where military coups and activities of violent extremists were recorded.
Dr Bawumia, on his part, said the government was committed to improving the lives of Ghanaians. He said the roads in the Sissala area would be considered.
The Vice President was accompanied by some members of parliament including the Minister for the Interior, Mr Ambrose Dery.
