Tendoma community warn of election boycott if development challenges persist


Residents of the Tendoma community in the Poyentanga electoral area of the Wa West District have vowed to boycott the December 7, 2024 polls if their development challenges persist.


According to the them, successive governments have neglected the community and only come to them to seek their votes to win political power.


The residents, speaking to Info Radio on Friday, August 9, 2024, stated that they do not have any health facility in the community.


Pregnant women have to walk to Ponyentanga for antenatal care or to deliver. Tengzuyela Gifty stated that women in Tendoma spend many hours searching for clean water due to inadequate water supply.


She mentioned that they are unwilling to vote for any political party in the December 7 elections if their development challenges are not addressed.


Dondoe Naomi, a senior high school student from the Tendoma community, intimated that the lack of electricity in the community is negatively affecting children's education.


She mentioned that children in the community do not have the opportunity to study during the night. She appealed to the government to come to the aid of the community.


Mr. Ziem Benedict, the Assembly member for Ponyentanga Electoral Area, has confirmed that he has taken steps to ensure that meters are installed in the community.


He mentioned that his discussions with the contractor revealed that the contract did not include the provision of meters. He noted that the community as a whole requires approximately 350 meters.


Madam Vida Diorotey, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Wa West, assured the community that they would have electricity by the end of 2024.
