Women shea butter processors in Naro, located in the Nadowli Kaleo District, are in need of support from industry dealers to sustain their business.

An association consisting of over 90 women, known as the Langzinglanombo Women's Association, has appealed for the purchase of their shea butter products. This plea was made during a visit by Info Radio to the community on Friday, May 31, 2024.

Originally established as a village savings and loans group, the association pivoted to shea butter processing in collaboration with the non-governmental organization, Women Integrated Development Association (WIDO).

Madam Ernestina Dagbee, the leader of the group, expressed that the business was prospering and served as a crucial source of livelihood for the women and their families, until the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We had about 400 boxes of processed shea butter in our warehouse before the Coronavirus outbreak, which impacted our business. After the outbreak, our buyers came and collected the products. However, they informed us that the profit margins had reduced significantly. Since then, we haven't had any further visits from buyers," she explained.

Madam Ernestina mentioned that the group is open to collaborating with any investor or dealer to revitalize their business.

She explained that prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, the group used to export their products. However, the pandemic has presented substantial challenges for the business.

"Currently, we are facing challenges in our community as we are unable to find buyers for our products. The income from our business was used to support our farming activities. We kindly appeal to potential dealers to engage in business with us," she explained.
