H.E Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has been given a rousing welcome by scores of people to the Upper West Region on Sunday, on his working visit to the region.
The President having landed at the Wa Airport at about 1340 HRS Sunday, received a rousing welcome by a host of government officials, Heads of Departments and the New Patriotic Part (NPP) faithfuls and sympathizers.
President Akufo-Addo visited the region to among other things, inspect ongoing projects, commission completed projects and break the ground for ones.
Multitudes of party supporters and sympathizers who were at the Wa Airport to welcome the President chanted praises on the President.
Others wielded placards, some of which read: “We are the mothers, Mr President and we are grateful for the FSHS”; “Upper West women say thank you for the Wa Sports complex”; “Mr President, thank you for the Kaleo Solar Plant” and “Upper West women say thank you for the ultra-modern Wa market”, among others.
The President, upon arrival headed to the Presidential Lounge for lunch, and shortly after, visited the 10th Mechanized Battalion (Wa Military Barracks) where he interacted with personnel from the security agencies in the region.
He appealed to the security agencies in the country to put in their maximum sacrifice to ensure peace and security prevail in the country.
Info Radio caught up with the Upper West Regional Secretary of NPP, Dr. Tanko Daniel Dawda, in a conversation, and he said the mass reception of the President to the region was an indication of the love that the people in the region had for the President and by extension the party.
“Because people love our party so much in this region and people are ready to work with us, you could see that there was a mass crowd of people at the airport and even in town to welcome His Excellence to Wa. This is what we were all looking for and God being so good He has done it for us. We are grateful” he said.
He expressed confidence that Ghanaians would give the NPP victory come 2024 general elections, giving the numerous works executed by the President Akufo-Addo-led government in the region and across the country so far.
Dr. Dawda however said, despite the confidence, the party would not renege on its efforts towards “breaking the eight” decisively.
“We are still having more than two years to do and to work for Ghanaians so the rest of the years that are left we are going to up the working that we have been doing so that the Ghanaian people will see in us the need to show us that gratitude again by crowning us victors come 2024 elections”, he intimated.
