Residents of Yaru in the Wa East District have decried the deplorable state of their roads which affects movement of goods and services.
Speaking in an interview with Info Radio at the community, the Chief Imam of the Community, Imam Yakoob Mahama said the road is very deplorable and prevents them from accessing other localities including Wa where they transact most of their activities.
He noted that in this rainy season, the road has become only of foot usage.
The Imam added that members of the community have been mobilizing communal labour to fix the road but the works have not been able to withstand the road pressure and the rains.
He appealed to the newly appointed District Chief Executive for Wa East, Dr Suleman Kandia Mahama Ewura, to turn the good face of his office towards finding a lasting solution to the road crisis.
Another resident of the community, Inusah Mahama told Info Radio that residents of the community cannot access healthcare centres at Gudaayiri, Charingu or Naahaa due the bad nature of all those roads.
He said when they are set out for Wa, they have to walk to Gudaayiri where vehicles are on the wait to pick them onboard.
Reports indicate that the road was first constructed over 15 years ago and has since then not receive any meaningful rehabilitation.
In an interview with the Assembly Member of the Area, Mr Francis Bengogpuo Pintu, he stated that road has been a matter of discussion at the Assembly saying that, he will lay the matter again before the house once the newly confirmed DCE is sworn-in and Assembly business begun.
