Residents of Yanyuoyiri in the Katua Electoral Area of the Wa East District have decried the absence of a Community-based Health Planning and Services, CHPS Compound in the community.
The residents said that they are compelled to travel far, exhaustive distances to access their health needs at neighboring Katua or Yaala communities.
Speaking to Info Radio at the community, Abdulai Abu, a Unit Committee Member, lamented that they have to either travel to Katua or Yaala whenever a member of the community is indisposed.
According to the Unit Committee Member, the worst aspect of their plight, is the ‘sarcasm’ they have to endure whenever they visit another community for medication.
He said they are being looked at as people of a lower class, a label he described as inhumane in the eyes of a justice society.
The residents, therefore, called on the government and benevolent Non-Government Organizations to come to their aid with a health facility to save them the struggle and hassle of traveling to other communities for healthcare delivery.
Yanyuoyiri is a community in the Katua Electoral Area in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region. They are predominantly into farming and fishing as their source of livelihood.
