Residents of Oloteng in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region have expressed concerns over lack of basic social amenities as a cause for shunning the community.
The residents have decried the lack of electricity at the community, saying it is retarding the education of their wards.
They said the school children are unable to study at night due to the lack of electricity.
Mr Bisin Peter, a resident of the community told Info Radio that due to the lack of electricity the children rely on the use of torchlight to study at night, which he said had a great toll on the financial status.
Mr Bisin also indicated that the lack of electricity at the community coupled with the deplorable state of the road and lack of accommodation at the school for the teachers caused teachers to shun the community.
He added that the Junior High School children sat under trees and sheds to receive teaching and learning due to the lack of classroom for them, which according to him, also affect the children performance.
