Residents of Nyore lament poor road conditions, call for immediate action

Residents of Nyore in the Bussie East electoral area, Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District, have expressed deep frustration over the poor condition of the road connecting their community to nearby markets and essential service centres.

Speaking to Info Radio, community members said they have managed to construct a portion of the road, but the project has stalled, leaving them struggling to access essential service centres. According to the residents, the completed section of the road ends at Kamehegu, while the remaining portion remains in a deplorable state.

This has had significant economic and social impacts on the community, as the poor road conditions make it difficult for them to reach the market at Bussie and other surrounding communities.

The challenging road conditions also affect access to health facilities. One resident lamented that the state of the road makes it nearly impossible to reach health centers in Kamehegu and Bussie, particularly during emergencies.

They continue to endure the difficulty of traveling on the poor road with pregnant women and ill relatives on motorbikes and tricycles.

Some women in the community are particularly affected, as many of them rely on that road to transport goods to the market in Bussie. Madam Mavis Yela-aye and Mrs Georgina Bangatege narrated the hardships they endure during the rainy season.

“We have to use motor tricycles to transport our goods to Bussie, and sometimes we have to get down and push the motor because of the Nature of the road. By the time we get to the market, we are already tired.”

Residents are now calling on local authorities and the government to step in and complete the road, which they believe will boost the local economy and improve access to vital services.
