Residents of Niiri in Takpo Tuori Electoral area in the Nadowli-Kaleo District say they are in need of additional classrooms for the primary school in the community.
According to the parents, there are only three classrooms serving primary 1 to primary 6 hence they have to pair two classes in a single classroom.
They said due to the congestion, most schoolchildren do not go to school.
Speaking to Info Radio at the community Mr Moses Angna-e, a resident, said aside from the inadequate classrooms for the primary school in the community, their children have to also walk a far distance to Takpo after primary six (6) to access Junior High School.
He says due to the far distance from the school, the children are not able to attend junior high school.
He said that parents carry their kids to the farm as a result, and as they grow up they do not want to attend school because they are used to farming.
Another resident, Mr Francis, complained that parents cannot afford bicycles for their wards to attend school at Takpo.
He said education is crucial for the development of every country, but for their community, it is not the case as most of the children do not like going to school.
Mr Kwesi, also a resident, said teachers who are assigned to come and teach in their community tend to take transfer after staying for some time due to lack of electricity.
He said even sometimes they are not aware of the time the teachers take a transfer from the community.
