Residents of Niiri in the Takpo-Tuori Electoral Area of the Nadowli-Kaleo District have bemoaned the lack of Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) in the community which is posing challenges to them in accessing primary healthcare.
According to the residents, they have to go to Takpo to access antenatal care at the Takpo health Center due to the lack of CHPS compound at Niiri.
In an interview with Info Radio at the community, Mr. Kwesi Takpo-Naa indicated that, in the absence of a motorbike, they walk to the health facility and before that time, the sick person’s situation becomes worst.
Mr Tampaa Benjamin and Madam Grace Yemeh said pregnant women in particular are suffering as a result.
Another resident of the community, Mr Angna-e Moses indicated that their Member of Parliament, both former and current, and the District Chief Executive (DCE) have been assuring them of CHPS compound but have yet to fulfil their promises.
Madam Habiba Tampaa lamented that women suffer a lot because they do not have a health facility in the community.
The residents disclosed that the community, through a self-help initiative, have started gathering sand to build the CHPS compound but due to economic hardship they are financially bankrupt and appealed for support.
They, therefore, appealed to benevolent individuals and organizations to come to their aid.
