Residents of Longborizu appeal for support to complete maternity unit project

The people of Longborizu in the Nator West Electoral Area of the Nadowli-Kaleo District have appealed to the government to assist them in completing a community-initiated maternity unit project.

The project was started on the advice of some community leaders after recognizing the long distance pregnant women in the area had to travel to access delivery services. However, due to limited resources, the project has stalled, leaving expectant mothers to continue enduring the difficulties of seeking healthcare far from home.

Speaking on the matter in the community, Mr. Isaac Zimpenne, a resident, expressed concern over the situation. He highlighted the struggles women face during childbirth due to the absence of a nearby maternity facility.

"We started this project to reduce the suffering of our wives who have to travel long distances to give birth. Unfortunately, we have run out of resources and cannot continue with the construction," Mr. Zimpenne said.

He, therefore, called on the government, through the Assembly Member and Member of Parliament for the area, to intervene and provide the necessary support to complete the project.

"The suffering of our wives continues, and we are appealing to the authorities to come to our aid so that our wives can have a safe and convenient place to deliver their babies," he added.

He expressed hope that with the government's support, the maternity unit will soon be completed to improve access to maternal healthcare in the community.
