Residents of Kaleo, a community in the Nadowli/ Kaleo District of the Upper West Region have resorted to open defecation due to poor toilet facilities in the area.
According to a cross section of residents who spoke to Info Radio, the poor state of their toilet facilities leaves them with no option than to attend to nature's call in the open.
Residents of Kaleo have therefore called on local authorities in their districts to come to their aid with a befitting toilet facility to enable them end the practice of open defecation.
The Assemblyman for the Kaleo East electoral area honorable Fusca Ninkpeng speaking on the issue confirmed the poor state of their toilet facility and appealed to the district assembly to come to the aid of the community. The Kaleo assemblyman among other things also listed poor road network, unemployment among his people and the malfunction of the community street lights as some of the challenges facing the Kaleo community.
