Residents of Kakyuu call for facelift of roads to reduce plights


Residents of Kakyuu in the Wa West District have called on the government and district authorities to give a facelift to roads within the area to reduce the plights they undergo plying the roads.


They lamented that the bad nature of roads which affects their access to healthcare delivery and economic activities in the community.


According to the residents, they find it difficult to access market at Dabo or healthcare services at Olli due to the deplorable nature of the roads.


In an interview with Info Radio at the community, Mr Deye, a resident of the community, said their children attend school at Kpila but because of the dilapidated nature of the road, some do not go to school.


Mr Balana, another resident, lamented that, due to the poor state of the roads, expectant mothers sometimes give birth on the way or at home and are charged a penalty for a fault of no theirs.


On her part, Madam Comfort, also a resident of the community, indicated that pregnant women suffer severe pains when they are transported by tricycle to the health facility due to the bad state of the road.


She said their children also risk their lives crossing streams in order to attend school.


She thus appealed to the government to rehabilitate the roads in the area to ease their plight.
