Residents of Ga in the Wa West District have bemoaned inadequate sources of potable water in the in the community forcing them to queue at boreholes early as 4 o’clock dawn.
They said the community of about 20,000 people depended on only three functional boreholes which has made access to water for domestic use very difficult.
Narrating the situation to Info Radio News at the community, Madam Latifa Adams, said they have to be in a cued for hours before they can get a basin of water to fetch.
She further mentioned that they have to wake-up as early as 4:00 am to go and queue at the borehole, saying they spent valuable time hunting for water which affect their economic activities.
Madam Adams noted that the only damp in the community is shared with animals in the electoral area making it harmful for domestics use.
She further stated that they have to use alloy to clean the water they fetch from the dam before it could be uses.
The people therefore appealed to the government, benevolent and cooperate organizations to come to their aid.
Mr. Maalibunaa Saaka, the Unite Committee Chairman for the area also noted that there is pressure on the few boreholes due to the high demand.
He said the women sometimes exchange unhealthy words at the borehole in the struggle to get water.
