Some residents of Daboziiri in the Siiru Electoral Area, Wa West District, have lamented over the inadequate sources of potable water in the community.
They said there is only one borehole which serves the whole community.
Speaking to Info Radio, Mr Donado Gbangbaa, a resident, said their wives use precious time in searching for water which affects their economic productivity.
According to him, women wake up at dawn to search for water and return late hour in the day, which he described as worrying.
He noted that they have appealed to the authorities for help but are yet to receive help from them.
Madam Mwinnuba Yokyili, another resident, said they spend several hours in searching for water which results in confrontations with their husbands.
Mr. Yokyili Bamou Mwinibong, the Chief of the community, noted that there is no government development project in the community and appealed to the government through the Wa West district assembly, and non-governmental organizations to come to their aid to provide the community with additional sources of water to help alleviate their challenges in accessing water for domestic use.
The UN Sustainable Development Goal 6 has a target to achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all by 2030.
The appeal, by the residents of Daboziiri, is therefore a call of awakening to the government and development partners to help in the realization of this target in the community.
