Assembly Member for Goriyiri Electoral Area in the Nadowli-Kaleo District, Mr Nestor Mwinterebo has said that the relief items delivered by the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) are woefully inadequate to satiate the suffering of flood victims in the area.
Speaking on Info Radio’s Te Zine Yiri Yele, the Assembly Member stated the items could not reach all the victims and even what the most affected people received was dolefully not enough.
He lamented that Assembly members in all the flood-hit areas are tagged being sectionalist and nepotism in the sharing of the items due to the insufficiency.
Mr Mwinterebo further lamented that there is currently no ease in the area because the water levels are still high as the rains have not yet retreated.
He said farmlands are still submerged in water and are not accessible, threatening to leave the people in dire suffering.
The Assembly Member appealed to benevolent individuals and organizations to come to the support of 86-year-old female victim of the circumstances who currently displaced following the collapse of her building.
He said the aged widow has been seeking refuge in a school classroom yet schools are due to reopen in few days.
