The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Lassia Tuolu Senior High School in the Wa West District of the Upper west Region, has donated food items worth over Thirty Four Thousand Ghana Cedis to the school to help alleviate the feeding challenges the school is facing .
Speaking to Radio Progress, a community based radio station , the PTA Chairman Mr. Bere Alex Nako revealed that the school management had reached out to them as key stakeholder, to indicate the insufficient foodstuff in the school, after which the executive board held an emergency meeting and resolved as parents to contribute their bit to support the efforts of the government.
According to Mr Bere Alex Nako, parents responded remarkably to their call for support, by contributing essentially to support the feeding of their children, which the students had been complaining of. The PTA members donated the food items such as 20 bags of maize, 5 bags of gari, 2 bags of Soyer beans, five gallons of palm oil, and 3 bags of groundnut.
According to the Parents Teachers Association, they believe that education is key to the development of country and will continue to play its role in supporting efforts that seek to improve the educational system.
Their donation they say, will undoubtedly motivate the students to work hard, knowing that they have the support of their parents and the wider community. This donation by the PTA serves as an example for other organizations to follow by supporting education in Ghana.
