The Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers in the Upper West Region has announced an upward adjustment in the prices of sachet and packaged water.
Speaking at a news conference in Wa on Saturday, June 5, 2021, the Upper West Regional Chairman of the association, Alhaji Toiba Mahama, said the increment has become necessary to accommodate the increased prices of goods and raw materials in the commodity market.
He cited among others the increment in petroleum and electricity prices as basis for the upward adjustment in the prices of the sachet water.
The price for a bag of sachet water, as announced by the association, is increased from GHC 3 to GHC 4.50 effective 14th June 2021.
The end consumer will now buy a bag of the sachet for GHC 5 at the retail shop and a piece for 30 GHP.
He said the circumstances leading to the change in price was beyond their control while urging the public to accept the new prices to enable them produce quality drinking water as expected.
Alhaji Toiba noted that the decision is binding on all members of the association and encouraged them to sell at the new price as announced.
