Information reaching Infor Radio indicates that the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, is expected to be in the Upper West Region , tomorrow, Thursday, January 20, 2022, to attend the investiture of the first Vice Chancellor of the Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Studies (SDD-UBIDS), Professor Philip Duku Osei and the Swearing in of the first Registrar of the university, Mr Job Asante.
Other high profile personalities expected to attend the event include the Minister of Education and the Speaker of Parliament, according to documents from the university cited by Info Radio.
The SDD-UBIDS, formerly the Wa campus of the University for Development Studies (UDS) was administered from the Tamale campus of the UDS until it gained autonomy in 2019 by Act 1001.
The SDD-UBIDS has the vision of becoming an internationally acclaimed university that applies evidence from research and knowledge gained to solve the problems of business, national development, agencies and non-state actors towards improved development outcomes.
It is the first university in Ghana to run a Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) programme which started in August this year, according the University’s website.
The programme is supported by UNICEF to give cutting edge skills to analyze and present developmental issues more pragmatically and set the agenda for social discourse that will bring positive change to society.
