Pregnant women in Gurimuni, a community in the Wa Municipality have to walk 12 kilometers before being able to access health care services due to lack of a health facility in the community.
A cross section of residents speaking to Info Radio disclosed that they travel 12 kilometers to Wa for antenatal and skilled delivery services.
They also noted that they sometimes access health care services at communities such as Kpongu and Dignafuro CHPS compounds , but added that, accessing those facilities in the two communities is difficult due to the deplorable state of their roads. They have therefore appealed to the Wa Municipal Assembly and the government to provide the community with a health facility to help reduce the drudgery in accessing health care services.
