Parents and guardians in Zinnye, located in the Gudaayiri Electoral Area of the Wa East District, have expressed their concern over the lack of proper infrastructure at the community primary school.
The community residents have reported that there are currently only three classrooms available for the primary school pupils.
They further mentioned that the Kindergarten pupils are forced to sit under trees due to the insufficient number of classrooms at the school.
Madam Mercy Bazooraa, a parent, speaking to Info Radio at the community, has mentioned that part of the school has collapsed, leaving only three classrooms for the pupils to use.
She added that the school is faced with furniture shortage, and as a result, three classrooms are combined to create one classroom for the pupils.
"The whole primary school has only three classrooms, and the lack of furniture is forcing the children to sit on the floor while learning. It's quite concerning that when the children return home; those of us from the farm look more presentable than them. This is because the children are covered in dirt and dust from sitting on the floor to learn, "she stated.
Madam Rebecca Dondorikuu, also a community resident, expressed concern over the lack of electricity, which is affecting the academic performance of their children.
She appealed to duty bearers to improve the school by providing electricity and furniture to enhance teaching and learning.
