Pay NEDCo to reconnect our electricity – students of DHLTU call on management

Students of Dr Hilla Limann Technical University (DHLTU) have called on the university’s management to pay their outstanding debts owed to the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO) in order to be reconnected to the national grid to facilitate teaching and learning.

The NEDCo, as part of its revenue mobilization drive, disconnected the power supply to the university campus for owing it a cumulative sum of about GH₵2.2 million.

According to the students disconnecting the school from the grid will adversely affect their teaching and learning as they are in their end-of-semester examinations period.

Speaking to Info Radio at the school, some students told Info Radio that the disconnection would affect their studies as their laptops and other electricity-powered learning devices could no longer be used.

They added that the conduct of the impending examinations would also be affected as some lecturers do project examination materials for them to write.

The students thus urged the school’s authorities to pay the debts for them to be reconnected to the power grid.

Meanwhile, the Wa Area Manager of NEDCo, Engineer Francis Yormesor, said if the university pays at least 75 per cent of its outstanding debt of GHC2.2 million, the NEDCo will reconnect the power.
