The Paramount Chief of the Dorimon Traditional Council, Naa Alhaji Seidu Tungbani Salinbile II, recently visited the Dorimon Health Centre as part of his tour to familiarize himself with some government institutions within the community.
His visit aimed to allow him to interact with staff and obtain information on the conditions under which they work.
During his visit, some women from the community expressed their concern about the lack of adequate space in the children's ward. They sought the chief's support in constructing additional space to address the challenge.
"When our children fall sick, we take them to the health center, but there is no dedicated ward for children. Instead, they have to stay in the adult ward, which puts them at risk of contracting diseases from other patients. We are appealing to the government and philanthropists to help us construct a separate children's ward. We humbly request the chief and sub-chiefs to support us in building this ward, as we cannot do it alone."
On his part, Kareem Dalo, the In-charge of the health centre, updated the chief on some of the successes the facility has achieved during his tenure.
“At the health centre here when we came like I said when we came, the place was running without a lab facility, I engaged the stakeholders including the Hon. MP and we were able to get a lab here. What is now our major issue has to do with space”, he stated.
He mentioned that the Member of Parliament has supported the facility with GHC10, 000.00 to start the construction of a children’s ward. He lamented the inability of men in the community to support the women during communal labour to construct the ward.
Mr Dalo also expressed concern about the encroachment of the facility land and appealed to the paramount chief and stakeholders to protect the land from encroachers.
The chief's entourage expressed gratitude to the In-charge and staff of the facility for their dedicated service to the community. They also mentioned their willingness to aid the facility in any way possible to ensure that the people receive quality healthcare.
