Over 1000 PPP members in Upper West defected to NDC

Over 1000 members of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) in the Upper West Region have defected to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

At a ceremony to swear them into the NDC in Wa, the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah called other regions to emulate the example of PPP Upper West by joining the socialist movement of the NDC.

He said the defection is born He said the defection is rare of a kind to see opposition party cross-carpeting to another opposition party.

The General Secretary posited that the only strongest progressive party in Ghana is the NDC, thus saying the NDC is the home for all progressive minds.

He said people must forget about ‘big names’ and slogans and join forces with the NDC to annex power from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The former Regional Chairman of the PPP, Mr Adams Osman, who was sworn into the NDC, said the decision to join the NDC is to support the party to take power from the NPP.

He said the NPP was woefully underperforming and hence the need to retire them by supporting the NDC.
