The Nubalanaang Group from Kahaa has issued a response to allegations made by some constituency, branch and ward executive for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Nadowli/Kaleo.

The group, represented by Amatus Dramani, contested claims suggesting that Alban S. K. Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, played a role in the invitation of some two candidates to the National Vetting Committee, who were disqualified by the Regional Vetting Committee.

The NDC group on Tuesday accused Alban S. K. Bagbin of submitting two names, Mary Haruna and Bartholomew Nanbazing, to the national vetting committee, despite these individuals being disqualified by the regional vetting committee of the party.

Mr Dramani emphasized the importance of truth and transparency, stating, “The comments in question are not only untrue but also a calculated attempt by the constituency organizer and his team to drag the name of the speaker into the mud.”

He asserted that the Speaker had no part in inviting the individuals in question, declaring that any candidates chosen by the national body were recipients of invitations based on their own merits.

Responding to the NDC member’s assertions about the qualifications of the invited candidates, Mr Dramani challenged them to provide specific reasons for their disqualification, describing the situation as driven by "pure hatred."

He pointed out that the invited individuals had made formal petitions to the national executives regarding what they described as unfair treatment.

“The members you seek to be fighting for were not the final shortlisted,” Mr Dramani declared, urging the constituency organizer to present concrete evidence from the vetting committee to substantiate their claims.

In a bid to uphold the integrity of the Speaker, he reaffirmed that Mr Bagbin is committed to fairness and unity within the constituency, dismissing any suggestion that he sidesteps any member. The group formally requested the constituency organizer to retract the allegations and apologize to the Speaker “in the spirit of unity and humility.”

The group urged party members and supporters, influenced by the earlier statements, to seek the full context of the allegations before forming conclusions.

“We remain committed to focusing on the work that truly matters as party faithful,” Mr Dramani stated, reinforcing their dedication to truth and fairness.
