NPP Upper West Prepares for Party’s Internal Elections


The Regional Organizer of the New Patriotic (NPP) Alhaji Mustapha Govier has hinted to Info Radio that, the party in the is putting in place effective measures to smoothly elect leaders within the party in the Upper West Region.

According to him, as directed by the party national executives, the appointment or re-affirmation of polling station executives shall be the first exercise to do before organizing the constituencies and regional elections.

Alhaji Govier disclosed that, steps has already been taken by the party to constitute an election steering committee who will be in charge of organizing and running the local internal elections for the party.


Touching on the growth of the party in the Upper West Region, the NPP regional organizer indicated that the party in the is growing unprecedentedly, as compared to the other political parties. He, however, explained that the growth is fluctuating since the party sometimes appreciates in votes and sometimes depreciates in votes as well.

Alhaji Govier also expressed optimism that the new party executives to be elected into office will be expected to improve on the mobilization of party members and ensure the party appreciates in votes in the 2024 elections and grow in the region.

Background

The New Patriotic Party, NPP is preparing for its internal elections towards “breaking the eight” during the 2024 general election. The National Council of the party announced guidelines for Polling Station, Constituency, Regional and National Executive elections for this year in a press conference last week. The NPP General Secretary, Mr John Boadu, who made the announcement, said all the elections would be held from February 19 2022 to July 16, this year with the National Executive elections and the National Annual Delegates Conference slated for July 14 -16, 2022. That, he noted, was part of measures by the party's leadership to ensure an effective re-organization of the party to strengthen it to enable it retain power in the 2024 general election.
