In a heartfelt plea for tranquility, the Northern Development Forum (NDF) has emphasized the urgent need for peace in Bawku, as violence continues to plague the community.
Over the past four years, innocent lives have been lost, and residents are enduring unimaginable suffering as clashes escalate. The NDF expressed deep concern over the diversion of essential resources from development efforts to manage the ongoing turmoil.
“Our citizens are dismayed and traumatized by the intensity of the recent violence. It is time for the government to take decisive action to restore peace in Bawku,” stated Major Albert Don-Chebe (Rtd.), Chairman of the NDF.
The forum criticized the government's lack of a clear strategy to address the provocateurs fueling the unrest. As the conflicts persist, the NDF urged the people of Northern Ghana to reflect on the dangerous consequences of resolving cultural and ethnic disputes through violence.
“In our quest for development and unity, we must cherish our rich cultural diversity, which should bring us together, not drive us apart,” Major Don-Chebe added.
