NDC: Samba Sombawiera elected Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency Chairman

Mr Samba Sombawiera has been elected as the Nadowli-Kaleo National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency chairman.

He polled 568 votes to beat ‘before’ acting chairman, Mr Bartholomew Nambazing who polled 440 votes.

The voting process at the McCoy College of Education, Nadowli had 1,019 delegates out of an expected 1,047 casting the ballots to elect the constituency executives.

In all, 58 aspirants who filed and qualified nominations were on the ballots, out of which 17 executives were expected to be elected.

The process was initially delayed by a mini-conference of delegates addressed by the Member of Parliament, Mr Anthony Sumah Mwinkaara and was later suspended over a ballot problem, where only 10 out of 19 aspirants appeared on the ballot for Executive Member (8 Others) position.

The voting progressed smoothly after a decision was made to continue the process while the problem was being rectified.

After the voting, Mr Ismail Suleman Zintang polled 544 votes to become Vice Chairman as his only contender Mr Malik K. Sundong managed 462 votes.

Mr Timothy Diedeme beat three other contenders with 657 votes to win Secretary as Mr Joseph Salia had 249 votes, Mr Yenli Anbanye Nathan, 67 and Mr Badita Issac, 34.

The position of Deputy Secretary was won by Dakura Joseph Tiering with 405 votes while his contenders Mr Martin Luther King Dagoro, Mr Kundau Martin and Mr Sylvester Sungbaahee Bantuo had 292, 196 and 107 votes respectively.

Mr Frederick K. Kaningen became Organizer with 370 votes while contenders Mr Kombanpuo Martin N Lukas had 348 votes and Mr Saana Thomas Bondinuba, 287 votes.

Incumbent Communication Officer, Mr Biekpe Sylvester retained his position with 555 votes while contender Mr Salifu Nafiu garnered 445 votes.

Mr Nasideen Shaibu polled 465 votes to become Deputy Communication Officer against Mr Naawaana Bernard who had 276 votes and Mr Seidu Mogtari who also polled 257 votes.

Mr Remus Kpan won as Youth Organizer with 74 votes against Mr Joseph Ali Signal who had 40 votes.

The position of Deputy Youth Organizer was won by Mr Dumbu Titus with 60 as against 34 votes polled by lone contender Mr Seukuu Mark Hagan.

Mr Sunkyedong Wilfred stood unopposed for the Other Youth slot.

Mr Lankor Angunona Orlando beat Mr Chakalinaa Kenneth Kanzine with 512 and 499 votes respectively to win as Treasurer.

Deputy Treasurer was won by Mr Yemeh Suglo Luke with 386 votes as against 349 and 267 votes polled by Mr Tijaani Danwaah Richard and Kala David respectively.

Incumbent Women Organizer, Madam Haruna Mary polled 57 votes to retain her seat, triumphing over only contender Madam Jane Wongere who slimly lost with 52 votes.

Madam Datuah Sabogu Theresa beat Madam Vida Bookpiere to become Deputy Women Organizer, with 61 and 47 votes respectively.

Mr Dan-Ibu Bashirudeen Yunus became Zongo Caucus Coordinator with 578 votes over Mr Iddrisu Gariba who managed 429 votes.

The position of Deputy Organizer was in contention as the calculated sum of votes accrued by candidates exceeded the total votes cast.

Meanwhile, results of the 8 Other Executives were expected to be collated after some voters who had left the centre before the problem was identified had their votes cast again.

The total delegates were drawn from 133 polling stations together with some special voters.
