Nator-Baanuori Residents Voice Frustration Over Unreliable Water Supply

Richard Banoebuuri

Residents of Nator- Baanuori, a farming community located in the Nator West Electoral Area of the Nadowli-Kaleo District, are raising alarm over a dire water crisis impacting their community. According to residents , the community is connected to a small town water system, but the flow of water in the system is not reliable. Residents say the only borehole in the community is also deemed unreliable, locals are therefore often left scrambling for water, relying on streams sources or going days without access.

In an exclusive interview with Info News, community member Vincent Gor expressed deep concern about the precarious water situation. "We are left with no choice but to depend on river water sometimes, which is unsafe, or go without water for days,” he lamented.

Kwame Boi echoed these sentiments, calling on the government to take urgent action to address the issue by providing more boreholes. "Water shortage affects the entire electoral area," he stated, highlighting the widespread nature of the crisis.

Madam Basinnaa Bangbimbo further elaborated the problem, noting that four sections within the electoral area are completely without water access. "The limited boreholes are under immense pressure, and it's simply not enough to meet our needs," she explained.

Adding to the growing concern, Madam Dary Akosua pointed out that the water scarcity is breeding unnecessary tension in the community. "We can’t afford to have such issues dividing us when we should be united in finding a solution,” she said.

As frustration mounts, the residents of Baanuori are calling for immediate intervention from authorities to secure a sustainable water supply and alleviate the pressure on their daily lives.
