Naro women commend President Mahama on DCE nomination, appeal for 100% endorsement by Assembly Members

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Women’s Wing in Naro, Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency, has appealed to the Assembly Members in the Nadowli-Kaleo District to give a hundred per cent endorsement to the District Chief Executive (DCE) nominee for the district, Ms Mary Haruna.

They said her nomination reflects the decision of President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC party to empower women in the country which led to a woman being the vice president.

The women said this at Naro in an address to a section of the media in the Upper West Region.

Ms Enerstina Faara, a member of the Naro Women’s Wing of the NDC, who read the statement on behalf of the group, indicated that Ms Haruna's nomination reflected her dedicated and committed service to the NDC party and the entire district.

"This nomination is a testament to her dedication, hard work, and the trust reposed in her by the party's leadership.

"In light of this, we respectfully appeal to the Honorable Assembly Members of the Nadowli-Kaleo District to do the needful by giving Madam Mary Haruna a 100% confirmation.

Such overwhelming endorsement will demonstrate our collective unity and support for the vision of inclusiveness and empowerment championed by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama", the NDC women said.

The group commended President John Dramani Mahama for choosing a woman, particularly, Ms. Mary Haruna, to represent him at the district level.

"We extend our heartfelt congratulations to President John Dramani Mahama for recognizing and empowering grassroots women leaders through such noble appointments.

This gesture has not only uplifted Madam Mary Haruna but has also brought immense pride to the entire Nadowli-Kaleo Women's Wing", the group stated.

Madam Aminatu Sangare, also a member of the group, expressed confidence in Ms Mary Haruna’s leadership as the DCE.

She said her leadership would facilitate the district’s development and empowerment of women and, therefore, appealed to the Assembly Members to confirm her as the DCE for the area.

Ms. Mary Haruna emerged as the only female to have been nominated by President Mahama as a DCE in the Upper West Region out of eight women in the region who expressed interest in that position.
