In a recent interview on Info Radio 91.1 FM, Mr. Kpama Haruna Mandela, the elected Assembly Member for the Naro Electoral Area in the Nadowli-Kaleo district of the Upper West Region of Ghana has voiced urgent concerns regarding the state of education and healthcare in his jurisdiction. With the impending appointment of a new District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Nadowli-Kaleo district, Mr. Kpama expressed hope that addressing the pressing challenges in Naro would be made a top priority.
Highlighting the educational landscape, Mr. Kpama revealed that the three schools within the Naro Electoral Area are grappling with a severe shortage of classrooms. This lack of adequate learning spaces, he noted, has significantly hampered the effectiveness of teaching and, consequently, the academic performance of students. “The current infrastructure is insufficient for the number of students we have, making it increasingly difficult for them to study in a conducive environment,” he stated.
In addition to infrastructural deficiencies, Mr. Kpama pointed out the critical shortage of qualified teachers, further exacerbating the educational crisis in the area. He called for immediate intervention to ensure that students receive the quality education they deserve.
Beyond the educational sector, Mr. Kpama also turned his attention to healthcare, urging the district health directorate to elevate the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in the area to a fully operational health facility. “Access to healthcare is as vital as education. Upgrading the CHPS compound will ensure better health services for our community,” he emphasized.
As the Nadowli-Kaleo district prepares for new leadership, Mr. Kpama’s appeals underscore the urgent need for strategic investment in both educational and healthcare infrastructures to support the well-being and development of the Naron community. The hope remains that with new leadership on the horizon, these critical issues will receive the attention they urgently require.
