The 2022 edition of the Miss Dumba Beauty Contest has been launched and running. The launch took place at the premises of the Wa Naa’s palace on July 30, 2022.
Miss Dumba, presented by Pelbip Events in collaboration with the Overlord of the Wala Traditional Area, Wa Naa Seidu Fuseini Pelpuo IV and sponsored by Adonko Next Level, seeks to promote the rich culture of the Upper West Region and boast investment opportunities in the region.
The 10-week journey, already left with 8 weeks, will crown a queen at the climax of this year’s Dumba Festival.
The auditions saw twelve (12) contestants qualifying to bid for the crown but nine (9) of those are remaining in the race as of last Saturday, the 2nd week of the contest. The three are no longer in the race for no reason of eviction, they pulled out.
The theme for this year’s Miss Dumba Contest is “Unity and Diversity in Culture.”
Stage performance takes place at the courtyard of the Wa Naa’s palace every Saturday night. The performances of the ladies have been spectacular so far and promise to get more exciting and fascinating in the coming weeks.
Meet the nine (9) beautiful ladies vying for the crown.
Leila Abu hails from Danko in the Wa Municipality. She hopes to wear the crown as the Miss Dumba for the 2022 edition. She appears heading to the dream so far, judging from the stage funs and enchantments that come from the audience when she is up stage.
Jessica Abatanie Asin-ma comes from the Nadowli-Kaleo District. She goes by Asin-ma on stage, and she is poised grab the throne.
Representing the Wa East District is Ayisha Iddrisu, aiming to take the crown to the East. She hails from Bulenga.
Cynthia Diodon also comes from the Nadowli-Kaleo District. She promises to be the queen at the end of this year’s contest.
Tuuro hails from Wa Nayiri and promises to wear the crown. Hadiat Sufyan Turosung is a student teacher at the Nustrat Jahan Ahmadiyya College of Education, Wa.
Arahiatu Mahama comes from Wa Nayiri. She is poised to take to the royals this year’s Miss Dumba title. She goes by the stage name, Hajia Arri.
Lilian Naalu-ib is a mental health ambassador and volunteers for the Bahass Foundation – a mental health focused charitable foundation in Wa, Upper West Region. Lilian promises take the title of the queen in this year’s Miss Dumba contest. She hails from the Lawra municipality.
Paulina Ngmennasong comes from Wogu in the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District. She promises to be crown Miss Dumba queen. She is a student of the Dr Hilla Limamn Technical University, Wa.
Riyanat Iliyasu Torikuubu also hails from the Wa Nayiri. She is poised to take the Miss Dumba title.
