Residents of Manwe in the Wa East District are urgently appealing to the Community Water and Sanitation Agency and the Wa East District Assembly to address the issue of hard water in the community.
The current water system, which is owned by the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA), is producing hard water, making it unsuitable for washing clothes and bathing. The community members are requesting the agency to drill a new borehole to provide them with clean and soft water.
Mr Adams Iddrisu, the Assembly member for Manwe Electoral Area, highlighted these concerns during an interview on Info Radio's Zienyaaye Upper West program in Manwe.
"We have a small water project in Manwe, but it does not entirely meet our water needs. The issue is that the pump house is producing salty water. As a result, although there is water available, we are not satisfied with its quality."
He said, “We have been urging the management of the water system and CWSA to drill a borehole at a different location in addition to the current one but they have not done so yet.”
Some residents who also spoke to Info Radio about the water situation in the community mentioned they rely on private water suppliers in most cases for their water needs.
They appealed to duty bearers and nongovernmental organizations to come to the aid of the community.
