Mahama Administration Opens Application for MMDCES Positions Nationwide

The newly inaugurated administration of President John Dramani Mahama has announced the opening of applications for qualified members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the positions of District, Municipal, and Metropolitan Chief Executives (MMDCES) across the country. This announcement was made by the Upper West Regional Secretary of the NDC, Lawyer Charles Lwanga Puozuing, during an interview with Info Radio on Wednesday in Wa.

Lawyer Puozuing stated that the government is encouraging interested and qualified Ghanaians, especially party members dedicated to community service, to pick up application forms for the vacant MMDCES positions. The deadline for submission of applications has been set for Saturday, January 11, 2025.

"We are calling on committed party members in the Upper West Region who have the interest and capacity to serve their communities to step forward and apply for these important roles. This is an opportunity to support President Mahama and the NDC in executing our campaign promise of resetting the country," he emphasized.

According to lawyer Puozuing, a regional vetting committee will review all submissions and select the top three candidates for each district/municipality based on predetermined criteria. The names of the 3 most qualified candidates per district/municipality will then be forwarded to the seat of government for final appointment by President Mahama.

Lawyer Puozuing expressed optimism about President Mahama's commitment to executing the NDC's transformative agenda, particularly the implementation of the party’s 120-day social contracts pledged to Ghanaians during the 2024 general elections. “We believe that under President Mahama's leadership, we can achieve the transformative changes that our nation needs,” he added.

In a related development, on Wednesday, January 11, 2025, President Mahama revoked the appointments of all MMDCES serving under the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, as part of his ongoing efforts to restructure and realign local governance with the current government's policies.

As the process unfolds, many within the NDC are eager to see how the new appointments will impact local governance and the implementation of the party’s agenda. As the deadline approaches, party members are urged to prepare their applications and participate actively in this critical phase of the Mahama administration.
