Residents of Maduteng in the Ga Electoral Area of the Wa West District say access to healthcare services at community is a challenge as the newly constructed health facility in the community is yet to be commissioned.
They said though the facility has been completed for some time now, they still trekked several kilometres to Ga to access healthcare services.
Mr Francis Momaader, Reagent of the community, told Info Radio in an interview at the community that from their observation the construction has been finished and painted yet it is still locked.
He said during the rainy season for instance, pregnant women were unable to attend Antenatal Care (ANC), which had dire consequences on their health.
Madam Uudey Anlo also told Info Radio that pregnant women sometimes delivered at home or on their way to the facility at Ga.
The people therefore appealed to the District Assembly to take the necessary steps to commission the facility to help bring healthcare services closer to their door steps.
Meanwhile, Mr Loggu-Naa Mumuni, Assembly Member for the Ga Electrical Area was hopeful that it would be commissioned as soon as the District Chief Executives were appointed.
