Lilian reiterates commitment towards mental and reproductive health support services


Miss Lilian Naalu-Ib, a constestant in the ongoing 2022 edition of Miss Dumba Beauty Pageant reality show, has reiterated her commitment to supporting the cause of teenage pregnancy prevention as well as the welfare of people living with mental health disorders.


She said the rate of teenage pregnancy in some parts of the Upper West Region was quite alarming and has reaffirmed her conviction towards advocating the prevention of the situation among girls, especially those in schools.


She added that the situation of people living with mental disorders in the region was also unspeakable as many of these vulnerable ones lives a life misery as most people do not really care about them.


Miss Lilian made the pronouncements during a radio discussion with Radio Mak on Sunday, September 18, 2022.


She echoed her desire towards the promotion of adolescent reproductive health and mental health services for the general good of society.


She worried that a lot of the people with mental health disorders do not have anyone to care for them leaving them to roam streets and unsightly places under cold rains and scorch suns.


“In this rainy season, you go out and you find them lying in wet places with waters drizzling on them, and it is so bad.


“At the end of the day, when they fall sick, who is their father or mother to take care of them,” she quizzed.


She acknowledged the works of the Bahass Foundation, a mental health focused entity in Wa, of which she is a volunteer, in the area of supporting the wellbeing of the mentally challenged.


She disclosed that her yet-to-be launched foundation, Lilian Naalu-Ib Foundation will focus on running well projects that will see to the empowerment and wellbeing of marginalized and vulnerable groups in the society.


She therefore called on the general public to rally behind her to win the Miss Dumba crown for a collective action to reduce teenage pregnancies and ensure the wellbeing of the mentally challenged.


Public Relations Assistant to Miss Lilian, Mr Abdul-Razak Salifu intimated that Miss Lilian Naalu-Ib is most deserving of the crown among her contenders.


He premised his argument on the fact that Miss Lilian is hardworking, selfless, compassionate, open-minded, people-centred, service-driven, results oriented and many other peerless qualities required of a queen to serve her people.


He said the title of the Miss Dumba crown would help deepen the impact of the good works the potential queen was already doing and also widen her reach.


Miss Lilian Naalu-Ib has been the tip of the public to win the crown following the admirable qualities she has exuded coupled with her display of rich, impactful content on stage.
