Let’s continue to protect our fragile peace – DCE

The District Chief Executive for Wa West, Madam Vida Diorotey has urged the people of the Wa West District to continue protecting the peace Ghana had enjoyed since it gained independence from colonial rule about 66 years ago.

Speaking during the 66th Independence Day celebration under the theme “Our Unity, Our Strength, Our Purpose” in Wechiau, she said development, excellence and prosperity can only be achieved in an environment where there is peace and harmony.

The DCE thus encouraged the people to continue to protect the “fragile” peace they are enjoying in the district.

She also urged them to be security conscious and report any suspicious characters to the security agencies for the necessary interventions saying, “security is a shared responsibility”.

Madam Diorotey, however, lamented the economic challenges attributing it to the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war which is affecting the country but assured the people of the Wa West District that the government is working tirelessly to bring relief to them.

The Member of Parliament for Wa West Constituency Supt. Peter Lanchene Toobu (Rtd) also called on chiefs and the people of Wa West to continue instilling peace and unity to achieve development in the district.
