Lawyer Bede Ziedeng donates to Eremon SHTS fire victims


The Member of Parliament for Lawra Constituency, Lawyer Bede A. Ziedeng has made a presentation of assorted items worth GHS7,000.00 to the Eremon Senior High Technical School in the Lawra Municipality of the Upper West Region.


The donation was to provide relief to the school authorities and students following a fire incident which razed to the ground a girls’ dormitory.


The relief package included 170 pieces of mattresses, 10 sewing machines and also mechanized borehole for the school.


The MP and his nuclear family also donated 9 bags of gari, 170 pieces of sanitary pads and 170 pieces of towels to the affected students to bring them relief.


The incident, which occurred on February 6, 2023, Monday night during prep hours, destroyed completely 5 rooms of a Girls’ Dormitory including a practical workshop.


A total of 170 students were affected.


Speaking to the students during the donation of the items, Lawyer Ziedeng said his visit was to commiserate with them and console them, especially the affected students.


The MP said he was on parliamentary duties when the incident happened just when he had returned from the Constituency to Accra, which is why he could not visit them immediately when it occurred.


He advised the students and the staff to be cautious with the use of electrical gadgets.



He particularly advised the students to avoid the use of electrical appliances unless they have been authorized to do so.


He acknowledged the spirited individuals who have supported in bringing relief to the students.


The Headmaster of the Eremon Senior High Technical School, Mr. Ibrahim Issah Shaibu, expressed his profound gratitude to the Member of Parliament for his kind donation to support the school.


He however called on the MP to further mobilise support for the food practical materials which also got burned.
