The people of Gudayiri in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region, are calling on the Wa East District Assembly to extend electricity to the community-based Health Planning Service (CHPS) Compound established in the community. According to some residents of the community, who spoke to info news, revealed that the unavailability of electricity at the facility was worrisome and hampering effective health delivery in the community. They told Info news that, "the facility is two years old without electricity, sometimes, forcing the health personnel running it, to be in Wa. Clients of the facility can only be attended to during day time due to lack of Electricity".
As to whether the District Assembly is aware, the residents indicated that, they made several appeals to the district assembly and Member of Parliament, Hon Godfred Bayong Tangu, but to no avail. "Our people have tried, and used to assure us that the MP was coming to extend electricity to the facility. We waited till date, without any action. As it stands now, we don't even know, whether we have a DCE or a Member of Parliament, because we've never heard of DCE or MP coming to this our community after elections" the people lamented
They are therefore appealing to the Wa East District Chief Executive, Hon Moses Jotie and the Member of Parliament, Hon Godfred Bayong Tangu to extend electricity to the CHPS Compound for effective operation.
