The Head Coach of Kalibi Sporting Club, Kandima John, has called on referees in the Upper West Region to execute their duties with professionalism and integrity.

Speaking to Info Radio, Coach Kandima expressed concerns over what he described as the declining standards of officiating in the region. He lamented that some referees lack the necessary quality and commitment to improve their performance.

"The ‘Catch Them Young’ referees are not showing the expected dedication to learning and developing their skills," he noted, adding that poor officiating affects the development of football in the region.

Coach Kandima also condemned the undue influence of some club owners on match officials, urging them to desist from such practices. "Referees must be allowed to work without interference. The integrity of the game depends on fair and impartial officiating," he stressed.

He further charged referees to give their best as the region prepares for the upcoming Upper West Regional Division Two Middle League. While the Regional Football Association (RFA) is yet to announce the date for the competition, Coach Kandima encouraged all officials to be ready and uphold the spirit of fair play.
