Jirapa constituency NPP Parliamentary candidate visits Jirapa SHS after devastating fire incident


The National Patriotic Party's (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Jirapa Constituency, Hajia Ayisha Salifu, embarked on a solemn visit to Jirapa Senior High School to assess the devastating fire that engulfed the girls' dormitory, reducing it to ashes. 


The fire, which broke out on the afternoon of 25th April 2024, swept through the dormitory, leaving behind a scene of destruction. Upon receiving news of the incident, Hajia Ayisha Salifu promptly made her way to the school premises to offer her support and solidarity to the affected students, staff, and the school community. 


She toured the remains of the dormitory, witnessing firsthand the extent of the damage caused by the inferno. 


She expressed her heartfelt condolences to the students who lost their belongings and reassured them of her commitment to ensuring that they received the necessary assistance to cope with the aftermath of the tragedy. 


Hajia Ayisha also called on the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire and to take steps to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. 


She emphasized the need for increased fire safety measures in schools and urged the government to prioritize the safety and well-being of students across the country. 


The school’s administration expressed their gratitude for her prompt response and unwavering support during this challenging time. 


They reiterated their commitment to working closely with her and other stakeholders to ensure that the affected students receive the assistance they need to recover from the traumatic experience.
