Mr Joseph Baanaah Dabuo, an independent Member of Parliament aspirant for the Lawra constituency, has pledged to work tirelessly for the development of the constituency if he is elected to represent the constituency in parliament in the 2024 elections.
The aspiring Member of Parliament said this in an interview with Info Radio in Babile on Sunday July 14, 2024 during a ceremony to announce his intentions to the Lawra constituency.
Outlining his vision for the constituency, he affirmed his commitment to working with the constituents to propel the development of the Lawra constituency.
He mentioned that it is time for the youth of Lawra to rise and support him to win the 2024 elections to bring development to the constituency.
“We are the future leaders and yet you’re not giving us the chance to work. The youth are sufferin, every one, business people are suffering. The women especially are the most vulnerable and they’re the people suffering the most. That is why I said this time round the youth should rise and fight for what they want,” he stated.
He made known his plans to make farming and tractor services more affordable to the constituents since most of them are farmers through the establishment of AGRIC FUND.
Through the AGRIC FUND, the farmers will only buy fuel for a tractor to plough their farms. Mr Dabuo mentioned that he would station about three tractors in the constituency for farmers to plough their farms.
“I plan to bring three tractors each to the five zones the constituency, and they are not for profit. I want every part of the constituency to have access to the tractors to plough for them. I still have plans to make fertilizer and seeds available and accessible to the people in Lawra constituency.
“I said I would establish an AGRIC FUND and deposit an amount every month. If you can buy fuel for the tractors, then they can go and plough your farm for you,” he added.
Touching on education, Big Joe as he is popularly called said education is dear to him and he pledged to support the construction of a library for the Babile community.
“If I become the MP I have plans to build a community centre for the Babile community,” he added.
Mr Dabuo pledged to provide credit facilities for women in the constituency to enhance their businesses.
“When I am elected as the MP, I will bring Babile Credit Union for women. I would fight for a credit union so we can save our money and also get loans to enhance our businesses. We would no longer go to Jirapa or Lawra to save our money or get loans,” he stated.
He also promised to open the first radio station in Babile if elected as the MP on December 7, 2024.
Speaking on his achievements, Mr. Dauo also mentioned that he had renovated the newly constructed Babile fire service post, which had part of it collapsed.
He mentioned that he has paid a lot of school fees for brilliant but needy students in the constituency, bought educational materials for some schools, and supported some youth projects in Babile.
According to him, both the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Jacob Dery, who is also the parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party, and the Member of Parliament (MP), Lawyer Bede Ziedeng has failed the constituency.
Mr Dabuo also mentioned that the current MP, Mr Bede Ziedeng, has lost touch with the people and should be retired by the people. He said there is youth unemployment in the constituency, and he is the right person to bring jobs to the youth.
