I have not stepped down - Kweku Baako refutes claims

Aspiring Upper West Regional Youth Organizer for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Suleman Mohammed alias Kweku Baako has refuted claims that he has pulled out from the race.

Following the claims, the Director of Operations at the NPP Upper West Regional Youth Wing, on Friday, May 13, 2022 issued a disclaimer discrediting the publications making rounds the social media.

“I have become aware of some social media publications which sought to suggest that I have pulled out from the race of the NPP Upper West Regional Youth Organizer. I wish to state singularly clear that the publications portray nothing but falsehood and a figment of the curator's imagination.

“I see the publications as malicious and ill-intended orchestrated to cast doubt in the minds of right thinking persons who believed in me, what I am made of, and what I can do for the youth and party,” he disclaimed.

He urged the public to disregard such publications and treat them with all the contempt they deserve while entreating all his supporters, well-wishers and party faithfuls to “believe in the agenda for it is still very much alive and strong.”

“The Suleman Baako project is on course and we are together winning to empower the youth and break the 8. Let's Do It Together,” the statement concluded.

Speaking on Info Radio’s late afternoon show, Te Zine Yiri Yele, Mr Kweku Baako said stepping down from the race would be the last thing he would ever consider as far as the race is concerned.

He said stepping down would not only amount to betrayal of trust reposed in him by the party’s youth and members but also a great disservice to the NPP fraternity.

He said the NPP needs a grassroots person like himself to steer the youth affairs in the region adding that, the youth front needs a down to earth person who is easily accessible and connected to the base to help "break the 8."

Mr Kweku Baako touted his credentials and track records especially prior to the last general elections, including on-the-grounds campaigns, visits to constituencies, donations to party groups and special wings, among others, as part of the reasons for which he is ideal for the job.

He calls for unity among party members and aspirants saying, the ultimate goal is to win election 2024 as a party.

He further urged his supporters to continue to engage in decorous campaigns devoid of hate speech and violence.
