Hatie Nwadei launches Initiative to empower young people in rural communities

Hatie Nwadei, Upper West Region’s representative for the TV3’s 2024 Ghana Most Beautiful reality show in collaboration with Necessary Aid Alliance has unveiled the “Hatie Empowers Initiative.”

The launch was attended by some Heads of Departments, representatives of NGOs and individuals.

In her speech at the project's launch in Wa, Ms Nwadei talked about her upbringing in a rural community where young people encounter numerous challenges that hinder their potential.

“Growing up in a rural area I saw the challenges that many young boys and girls face. I rember dreaming big but often limited to the lack of resources and support.thankfully I had individuals around me who believed in the power of education and community. Today, they showed that challenges can help us grow and with the right support we can overcome obstacles,” she stated.

Ms Nwadei intimated that her childhood experiences start her passion for empowering others “especially young girls whose potential is often overlooked.”

She expressed her hope that this initiative will create an environment where young individuals can thrive and reach their full potential.

“I learnt how mentorship can change lives and I want to create an environment where young people can thrive, discover their talent and celebrate their culture.

“Our ultmost vision is to create a thriving rural community where the future of every individual mostly especially girls and women have the opportunity to thrive,” Ms Nwadei added.

Ms Nwadei emphasized that the project will also focus on advocacy and addressing the barriers that hinder women's full participation in the agribusiness value chain.

She appealed to corporate bodies, individuals and philanthropists to support the initiave to achieve its objective.

“I cannot do it alone. Running these initiatives would demand a lot of resources. So we are calling on all corporate bodies, individual philanthropists, local and international organizations, faith-based religious bodies and all people of good will to join hands with us to ensure that the journey we have set out to embark on is successful for the glory of a thriving community and a developed Ghana at large.”
